Biography: James W. Cortada was first among equals in the writing of this book. He consults in the field of business transformation, the underlying theme of this book. He has designed processes for sales, marketing, utility industry functions, and corporate cultural transformation. He is a leading expert on quality management practices and best practices in Information Technology. He has written more than a dozen books and nearly 100 articles in business management and strategy. He is an Executive Consultant within IBM Global Services, and has been with the company for 25 years.
Thomas S. Hargraves brought his expertise in business transformation strategies, process reengineering, and quality improvement to the book. He has consulted not only for clients, but for IBM itself. He has redesigned processes within the company and has played a crucial role as a member of the IBM team that developed much of the current intellectual capital on process management that is used by IBM consultants around the world. As a Principal with IBM's Consulting Group, he has worked extensively in the utility, transportation, process and petroleum, and manufacturing industries.
Edward Wakin played a key role in crafting this book. Taking the work of the team of IBM experts, he brought a coherence and structure to the final draft. He has had extensive experience writing for major corporations, from annual reports to position papers, and he is nationally know for his workshops in corporate communications. He is a past winner of the George Polk Award for "distinguished achievement in journalism." He is Professor of Communications at Fordham University.
